Philosophy of Care
Hwyl a Sbri philosophy of care is that all the children in our care:
○ Feel loved and wanted
○ Live in a happy, tension free environment while in the nursery
○ They are given good adult examples by all staff
○ They receive clear constant care
○ They are allowed to develop in a relaxed environment to learn through play
○ They learn through discovery and self-exploration
○ We will help them gain confidence and self esteem to reach their full learning potential
○ We want all the children in our care to want to come to the nursery and have plenty of Hwyl a Sbri! (Fun and Laughter)
We will emphasise he value of cultural diversity through learning about different festivals and occasions.
We will Respect dietary restriction and Religious injunctions and practices.
At Hwyl a Sbri we will promote the concept of equal opportunities and their values.
We will ensure that the children in our care feel part of one big family, we encourage the children to meet the greet each other at the start of each session to make everyone feel welcome.
We aim for the children in our care to encounter first hand experiences which will encourage the process of learning in an environment that will help them understand the varied world we live in.
Settling In
At Hwyl a Sbri we offer a settling in period of one week prior to your child’s start date. You can bring your child along for a few hours the first day and gradually increase the time so that, by the end of the week, the child has spent a whole session at the nursery. Parents can return to work feeling confident that their child is happy and secure and has not been left with complete strangers. This enables us to build a positive relationship with you and your child.
Communication
Communication is the utmost importance. At Hwyl a Sbri we operate a ‘Key Worker’ system and always make time to talk at the beginning and end of each day. The role of the ‘key person’ is to help settle both of you an your child into the nursery to enable a smooth transition from home to nursery routine.
The ‘key person’ is also there to provide support and advice to parents and carers regarding all areas of your child’s well-being and to develop secure positive relationships with the children they care for.
Communication is made through a variety of channels, daily reports, parents evenings, newsletters and questionnaires.
